Are you looking for a Victorian floor tile cleaner in Nottingham?
Then you’ve come to the right place.
At Bailey’s Floor Care, we’ve provided Victorian floor tile cleaning and restoration for hundreds of commercial and domestic customers across Nottingham over the years and have been faced with many challenges – but this one in West Bridgford was a first!
At some stage in the past the floor had been painted. Not that unusual. What was different with this one was that someone had painstakingly painted the individual clay tiles in their individual colours! That must have taken ages, been hard on their back and knees! Our client had tried for ages to try to find someone to bring their floor back to life. They had been in touch with national companies, who only seemed interested in photos and not visiting to see the floor in person.
They thought they had fallen on their feet when walking past a neighbour’s house further up the street to see someone cleaning their floor… bingo! Not quite. After a little ‘test patch and a bit of head scratching he said he’d be back another day and closed the door behind him in the way out – never to be seen again!
Bailey’s Floor Care to the rescue.
It was lucky, really. The client had seen one of our vans in West Bridgford one day and made a note of our number. Anyway, long story short, we got to work after carrying out a proper test patch to determine the best product to remove the paint. In this case it was paint stripper!
So after protecting skirting boards and bookcases etc and ventilating the house we applied a generous coating of paint stripper and allowed it to do its stuff before scrubbing the floor with a heavy-duty machine.
We then rinsed the floor, removing all the slurry before deep cleaning to neutralise the floor and allowed it to dry overnight.
The following day we applied seven coats of a topical seal to the floor. The seal we used is a very durable coating that seals and protects the floor. The seal also lifts the colours of the Victorian tiles giving the floor a lovely sheen. The floor looked fantastic!
Our clients are now left with a beautiful looking floor that is easy for them to look after and enjoy for years to come. Maintenance will be very straight forward, a dust mop to remove the surface debris and a damp flat mop with a gentle or pH neutral cleaner to tackle any soiling.
