Is your Tarmac Drive suffering from moss and algae? Are you wondering how removing moss from Tarmac can be done easily? Has the colour of your drive faded over the years? Are you just fed up with how it looks?
Well, Help is at hand.
Tarmac drives look fantastic when they have just been laid, fresh, black tarmac, in my opinion, nothing looks better! But it can be a breeding ground for all sorts of growths including moss, lichen & algae. Because the surface of tarmac is not smooth it encourages moisture retention and this is the perfect breeding ground for moss to start growing. The moisture is the ‘food’ that the moss loves and needs to grow, and an uneven surface provides excellent protection for spores.
There are many different chemicals available to clean Tarmac drives with that will kill moss on tarmac but we prefer to get fantastic result using good old-fashioned water! Using professional pressure washing equipment we will wash away years of ingrained dirt and soils from your drive. This will remove any loose stones as well as all the green stuff that has made your tarmac drive their home.
Who’s responsible for making your drive look ugly?
The pressure washing we use at Bailey’s Floor Care will remove all the algae and moss that ‘uglies’ out most tarmac drives during the cleaning process without the need for any special moss killer type products that you find in the garden centre. In fact, the only time we use a detergent is to clean oil of tarmac, as this can be a little tricky to do without the assistance of a bit of detergent. In most cases there’s no sign of the oil when we’ve finished.
Believe it or not the cleaning of your drive is actually the dirty bit! Well, for us anyway. We’ll wash down not only your drive but also surrounding areas as well so we leave your drive and garden as clean as we can after the work is completed.

Time to revive that just laid look to your drive…
Once we’ve cleaned the tarmac drive we can also carry out minor repairs such as pot holes and cracks in preparation for applying a seal. We always recommend two coats of seal is applied. This is not just any seal, Tarmac sealer is a superb tarmac restorer designed to rejuvenate and transform faded and worn tarmac putting back the original colour and all the goodness into the tarmac which can make it look like it has just been laid. We are able to offer three different colours, Black (the most popular) Red & Green, all of which are durable and long-lasting.
The seal binds together the loose tarmac and fills any minor cracks so no more stones being walked in of your drive into the house. There’s no nasty smells as the sealer is low in VOC’s and is safe for the environment. After sealing you’ll be left with that ‘just laid’ look on your tarmac drive once more.
How long will it last?
The Tarmac sealer is a durable, long-lasting and hard-wearing seal. How it wears will depend on many factors, which is why it’s difficult to say how long it will last. Fact is you should be maintaining your drive on a frequent basis, sweeping leaves off it, washing it down every so often, treating it with an an-fungal or moss killer products to keep the greenery at bay. The more you care for your tarmac drive the longer it will last. Do not fear – you won’t have to have it sealed every 12 months!

Our clients were over the moon with the outcome – they said…
“Brilliant! We can’t believe how great our drive now looks. After 17 years we were considering having a block paved drive but thought we’d try to get a few more years from our old tarmac drive first. We were sceptical about having it sealed as we’ve never heard of having tarmac sealed before and really we just wanted to tidy it up a bit and bet rid of the moss. It is now by far the best looking drive in our street – Thank you.”
